Getting There and Around in Siem Reap

There are daily direct international flights from Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chih Minh city, Kuala Lumpur and Inchon with a pretty good schedule out of Singapore and Vientiane. Travelers stopping over in Phnom Penh have a choice of at least four flights a day to Siem Reap. Visas are available on arrival at the Siem Reap International Airport for a US$20 fee. Registered taxis charge $5 for the short ride from the airport to town while motos are available for US$1-US$2. | |

| By Land The international crossing at Aranyaprathet/Poipet is the closest to Siem Reap. Thai buses journey from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet, and the journey is continued from Poipet by either bus or taxi. There are daily express bus services for US$5 from Phnom Penh with buses arriving at the station close to Psar Leu. Leading bus companies are Capitol Tours, Mekong Express, PP Sorya Transport and GST. Paramount Angkor Express offers a premium service with an on-board hostess who serves snacks.
Share taxis are the quickest way to get to Siem Reap from Phnom Penh for US$7 a person or US$45 for the whole car. | | | By Boat Express boats arrive around noon from Phnom Penh and mid-morning from Battambang. Prices go between US$20-US$25 from the capitol and around US$15 on the scenic route from Battambang. The destination dock on Tonle Sap Lake changes with the season. A moto ride to town is US$1-US$2 and on the tuk-tuk is US$4. | | | Getting Around The tuk-tuks are a great way to move around the town for US$1-US$2. Drivers are willing to offer their services for US$10-US$15 for a whole day. A moto is likely around US$6-8 for the day, and hotels and guest houses can organize a hired car with driver for between US$20-US$30 daily. Upmarket hotels will charge more. | | | Motorcycles Foreigners are disallowed from renting motorcycles in Siem Reap. To move around in one, you will need to ride a rented one up from Phnom Penh. | | |
