Activities and Things to do in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is a good city for walking as it is organized on a grid. Start the day right by praying for good luck and fortune at Wat Phnom. Make your way to the National Library, pause in front of the Hotel Le Royal, swing by Phnom Penh’s grand train station. Maneuver your way to Psar Thmei and Sorya Shopping Center and allocate sufficient time for the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum. End your tour with a pleasant stroll along the riverfront and rest your feet at one of the many bars and restaurants.

Guided tours and cruises

For a guided tour, join Khmer Architecture Tours  which conducts 3 hour tours on cyclo for US$12 a person. An English speaking guide is included in that rate. Keep an eye out for the work of Vann Molyvann, the country’s most celebrated artist, whose work includes the Independence Monument and the ‘100 Houses’ development.

Swim and Gym

On a hot day, settle for a swim, Many mid to top hotel open their pools to the public for a fee. Some include the use of the gym. Pay US$20 to use the pool and gym at Hotel Le Royal. For US$10, the Himawari Hotel Apartments on Sisowath Quay will give open access to the pool and gym.

Channel Rambo

At the Thunder Ranch Shooting Range on the way to the airport, those wanting to channel Rambo can pick from 20 different guns to fire. They range from AK-47's to M60 machine guns for anything between US$15-US$30 and US$1 bullet.
